Hi! My name is Rose. I would like to share a little about myself.
I grew up in a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio. I was the oldest of three and have two younger brothers. I have always known, from the early age of 5, that I wanted to teach. I always had an imaginary classroom that I spent hours playing school in front of my imaginary class.
In high school I began teaching swimming lessons to children ages 6 months to young adult. I also taught synchronized swimming and ran and swam in several synchronized swimming shows that involved young children to older women that were alumni of my high school.
After high school I decided to obtain a teaching certificate at a local college -Baldwin-Wallace College- where I earned my B.S. in Education. I majored in elementary (grades 1-8) and minored in math (grades 9-12).
While in college I met my husband, Tom, who was in the Air Force at the time. I was employed with my first teaching job in North Carolina where my husband was stationed. I taught the fifth grade for three wonderful years and enjoyed every minute of it.
My husband was offered an "early out" of the Air Force and became employed with a cafeteria chain in North Carolina. With our first child being 1 years old and moving every 4 months to 1 and 1/2 years I decided to stay at home and be a full-time mom. At that time I was introduced into home daycare because of the need to help other families employed by the same company as my husband. That is when I began to watch children.
We moved back up to the Cleveland area when I was pregnant with our third child. At that time I needed to help bring in income to our growing family. Teaching in a school just didn't seem feasible. My whole paycheck -and then some- would go out in daycare for our three children. That is when family daycare seemed like the only logical choice in careers.
I have been involved in Family Childcare in the Cleveland area since 1992 ~but started daycaring in 1990 in other areas of the eastern states. I have learned a great deal about Early Childhood and running a child care service from my home since 1992. I added a preschool program to my program in 1993. I found that this was my "niche" in the daycare world. I could do what I love -teach children- and have enjoyed being a part of many children's lives.
At this time, I am still married to Tom and we have five children of our own. They each are blessings in their own way and bring something of their own to our home and the world they live in. I also have had the pleasure of extending our family with many other families and their children. I truly love what I do and hope that each child leaves with something special that they obtained while at our home.
Thanks for taking the time to find out a little about me. I hope that you enjoy your stay on my website.
